If you have your notebook, copy the explanation, if not do it in white sheets of paper. Print out the exercise and answer it.
Reported Speech
· Use direct speech to repeat the exact words someone says:
He said: "I'm tired."
· Use reported speech to repeat what people say without using exact words:
He said he was tired.
· Use said or told in reported speech. You can use reported speech with or without that
He said (that) he was tired.
· It's more common to include that in more formal speaking and writing.
· Use told + object pronoun if you say who the person is talking to:
He told me that he was tired.
· Tenses usually change in reported speech.
Ana: "I've never been in London."
Ana said she had never been to London.
